Did you consider that maybe OP doesn't live in your mysterious district? Are you even in DMV? |
False. https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/siteassets/district/curriculum/graduation-requirements/graduationataglance_classof2028.pdf |
Why didn't your student apply for early college? |
You're right, they're not the same: foreign language for college admission works on levels (btw level 3 foreign lang for a STEM kid may be fine, as it was for my senior). English works on credits. OP's kid has 5 high school credits for English, assuming the credits taken in middle school are on the high school transcript (this may vary by district, as some districts might only carry up high school math and foreign lang credits taken in middle school). My rising junior has additional English credits from having taken two semesters of dual enrollment English in 10th. He will have 4-5 English credits at the end of next year and is considering graduating early from high school, at the end of jr yr. |
I love you. |
No, it won't be looked down upon. It's totally fine. There is never an expectation to do dual enrollment. |
This. Why did he do that? Makes no sense. OP, he should take some type of English class |
| Gotta take some type of English through senior year. Unless your kid goes to an unusually STEM focused college program (like RPI), they will have English, humanities electives, even for a STEM degree. He needs to show colleges he didn’t just stop with the reading, writing and analysis in 10th grade. Plus, even STEM requires strong writing and communication abilities in many fields. |
