I want a designer handbag

I'm not a fan of any noticeable designer bags other than LV or Hermes. So there's that. (I have them both.) But my daily runaround bag is a Parker Thatch Medium Jane. https://parkerthatch.com/products/medium-jane-slouch-bag-leather-luggage-1

Agreed that if you can go into a store or boutique you'll get a better sense of the size.

This is perfection.

- Valextra
- delvaux
-Moynat
- Serapian Milano
- Joseph Duclos (best of the best)
-Moreau
- Colombo

From the loud luxury brands the two that are still good quality are Hermes (but over priced for what you get. Joseph Dulos is so much better) and then Bottega.

I think these miss the point for OP. It is her first, and there is something about it being recognizable (hopefully subtle) that is exciting. Crazy as it is, I still remember my first. A Louis Vuitton Speedy. (There wasn't much else back then.)

I love Joseph Duclos, but it feels like something you will see more in Paris than in the US on an older woman. Though I love https://josephduclos.com/en/collections/sac-a-main/products/sac-saint-clair-cuir-arpege-ardoise-bleu-riviere

They are recognizable though to those in the know and those who appreciate quality 😀 If it matters, Taylor Swift has a Joseph Duclos bag 😀 From that list, I like Valextra and Serapian Milano.

I’m 49, going to Paris for my birthday, and have never heard of Duclos. What gorgeous bags. Many years ago, my mother got me a cross body by a brand I think called Karine Dupont from her store in Paris, which I still have and love. Not branded and lined in I think a viscose. I wasn’t planning on buying anything this trip and this is tempting me!

PP go! They are apparently the best bags in the market. Like how Chanel was in the 90s. Lining is all leather and the construction is top notch. Everything is hand stitched. Delveux, Moynat and Moreau are all in Paris as well and all three brands are the best of the best (after Duclos). LVMH bought Moynat so although it’s becoming more famous quality has gone slightly down. Still better than LV and other fashion bags but trending towards the LV direction. Don’t get me wrong LV is a good brand but it’s over priced for the quality.

Also not sure if it’s the same Dupont, but Dupont bags are high quality as well. They use really good leather.

+1 nothing with monogram or in your face logo

The Joseph Duclos bags are over $5500 each. OP can get two basic LVs.

OP clearly wants a bag with labels. The Duclos is not worth it if no one knows what the hell it is. I looked. Not worth $7000.

I recommend purchasing on Fashionphile. You can have it sent to Neiman Marcus in Tysons or delivered to your house. I’ve shopped in the Chelsea location and had a great experience.

OP, if it's your first designer bag, go with something recognizable and current. I would go with one of the following: Saint Laurent le 5 a 7 shoulder bag, Prada Cleo, Bottega Veneta Jodie, Gucci Jackie, Loewe Puzzle.

DCUM is where only obscure, unrecognizable brands are seen as classy. This is not the reason most people buy designer bags.
