I loved that trilogy. Mr. Mercedes was by far my favorite, with End of Watch being my second favorite.

If you haven’t read it yet I highly recommend Holly, which is a recent book he wrote that is all about Holly Gibney.

Real Americans by Rachel Khong about a family of Chinese-American immigrants. Right now it's centered on the daughter in early 21st century NY but I think it's going to skip back in time soon to the mother's story.
I liked the cover and it seemed like a good summer book - I like historical fiction that is centered on the immigrant experience. I am enjoying it so far but only about 60 pages in - looking forward to where it takes me.
I bought it at Barnes & Noble.

Starting the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J mass. I like fantasy and want easy reads for summer. So far really enjoying it. I found the AcOTAR series yo be uneven and ToG seems better so far.

It’s on my Libby holds list. I heard about it on an NPR interview with him in April.

Just finished Expiration Dates by Rebecca Serle, a quick OK read that doesn’t take much brain power. I’m almost off the holds list The Ministry of Time. I read the sample and it’s really intriguing, a woman whose job it is to help acclimate a man from the early 1800s to the 21st century after he is transported here in a time travel experiment.

I'm going to be a DNF on Daisy Jones and the Six. I got the audiobook, per recommendations, and I hate it. I can't tell many of the male characters apart, I dislike just about everyone, and I'm so freaking bored. So I'm going to stop and maybe watch the TV series. I rarely give up on a book and I am shocked that this one has such great reviews but oh well.

Ha, I too have heard all the recommendations for the book (esp. of the audiobook) but I (almost) always dislike all characters in sex, drugs and rock & roll books and the self-importance of the genre, so your review is clinching my decision to stay away!

Just read Happiness Falls by local author Angie Kim. I was very meh on it. I thought the opening was good - she hooked me in with the setup of a disappeared father, a non-verbal special needs son, and the voice of the sarcastic and quirky sister as narrator. But the book just moves too fast through all of these clues that pop up and wild assumptions that the family makes from them. And I thought the ending was completely unbelievable.

Next up is Enlightenment, Sarah Perry's new novel. I never love her novels, but they intrigue me enough that I keep reading them.

I read this last month and it didn't meet my high hopes, but I hope you like it more than I did!

I haven't tried the book but the series was good. I liked the ending but don't know how it compares to the book.
