Everyone knows there are many problems to be solved. There are also good things happening. Have some perspective.

If your house is on fire and someone points it out, do you whine and complain that they didn't notice how pretty your lawn is? Get a sense of urgency and prioritization. You sound ridiculous.

This was a group conversation about issues student leaders wanted to raise to BOE members. It's good that they do things like this. Yes, they should do more, with different groups of students. They acknowledged that at the meeting.

I felt like some of the students concerns were a little too much like how one kid said his advisory period was to loud. How will the board fix that? Ask your teacher.

I also found Ms.Evans comments very passive aggressive. You are going to tell the student to go talk about their concerns with someone else when you are the one that invited them there? Make it make sense.

I agree with previous posters about the representation of this group. DS would have loved to testify but we never knew about it. The same familiar faces that are presidents or secretaries of -insert random advocacy club- that has 10 members and meets once a year.

This is definitely a problem. If you’re going to invite students, even the current group of student leaders, they should at minimum have done the due diligence to survey the secondary kids before hand so the group was at least advocating on their behalf.

Invite all the SGA presidents. Have them send the survey to their school and review the results. Have them host a discussion with their school students and leadership before the event.

I agree 100 percent. I think they should only focus on High school. Most of the problems are in the high schools.

Hard disagree. There are many of the high schools problems present at the middle school level and if interrupt those harmful behaviors when they're in middle school, you have a better chance of them not showing up in high school at all.

The next Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Committee meeting is on Monday September 16. Probably during a time most people can not attend. Or is this going to be like the one in May among a few students and stakeholders such as a Board member trying to win her seat in Nov (Shebra Evans)? If this meeting is an open discussion, what are some topics that need addressing at this meeting?: better communication during emergencies, Safety in schools, open bathrooms so students and staff don't shit in their pants, more MC classes offered on HS campuses so students don't have to travel to a MC campus, later school start times?

Yep, it's at 10am. Not sure who is invited to this one but they should open it up to ALL students!
