Coaching Changes

If I lived in the Annapolis area, Saint Mary's would be a very attractive HC job if the role comes with a full time position with in the school.

The Saints have a long history of success of having played in the MIAA, have won MIAA banners, and their alumni base cares immensely about the lacrosse program.

None of those schools have had a club owner on staff. They've all had connections to various clubs/years because of assistants coaching club or parents in the school:

DC Dogs (ML 2023) to Gonzaga and Prep
DCE (several years) to Bullis
ML 2024 to Landon
NL (several years) to SJC

All the schools have players on the roster from multiple club programs and try to keep up connections for recruiting purposes.

I really don't think club programs are affiliated with HS programs the way they used to be right before COIVD hit.

Our son plays for NL but is coached by an assistant from SJC, alums from GZ and HC from the Heights.

Looking at our son's roster, there are kids from various schools on the team from GP, Landon, GZ, SJC, Bullis and a few publics.

I think the sport is too big now for a club owner to be fully affiliated with a private. Its a risk to their business model as well.

HS coaches having to rely on the club scene is getting so lame. Making hires based on who is affiliated with what club. God this is dumb. But yeah, we’re here.

Do we care about the publics yet’cause that’s where the rumors are brewing. 😳

What does that mean?

This year definitely seemed to be an outlier in terms of their sloppier play. Posters have mentioned that SSSA may suffer from the decline of Alexandria youth lacrosse and connections there.

Hopefully SSSA can remain relevant in the IAC as they have since Taibl started there.

SSSA had good teams due to leftovers from Taibl and his assistant coaches that were affiliated with Blackwolf and MadLax. But last two years without the carryovers and those assistants, Dodds had no one to really coach there. Its why we were able to beat SSSA 2 out of 3 times at Episcopal. Superior coaching.

It means for people that don’t care about the private schools and whose kids go to the publics, should they participate in this thread with the rumors being tossed about or is this a star bellied sneetch only thread?

Why the change? Where is the former coach going?

Former coach was asked to resign before the season ended. Still teaching, not coaching.

What change at SJC? Two WCAC final teams. Boys have strong 26 and 27 classes. Girls will reload over a season or two. What's the issue?
