The ACL injury is terrifying because of its recovery timeline, and its historical career ending nature. It’s more pronounced in women footballers, but by no means “very high” likelihood compared with other injuries. As you climb the tiers of play, risk goes up. So Club < College < Pro/International |
| My PT (a director at a big hospital program) told me he would never let his kids play soccer. |
I won't let my kid do any sport that may cause injuries. I want him to be safe till 35 |
I appreciate that you’ve apologized. It’s surprising and props for that. Sounds like you didn’t bother to read any of the research provided. It clearly states that yes, there is a high degree of probability during puberty and a very high degree as compared to boys. |
+100! Strength training, turf shoes (less grippy cleats on worn down turf fields -Edison high school aux field is garbage.-) and post game stretching are all super important! |
| WHO DOESNT WORRY ABOUT INJURIES? Its a risk you take when you get on the pitch. |
I guess I am confused as to why you worry about these things? Life hurts. The benefits of being active are great. What would you do instead? |
Sorry -- there is not a likelihood of your daughter tearing an ACL. That would mena 50% of all girls tear and ACL. |
This is stupid. |
Not PP but give it a rest. "the likelihood of a torn ACL is very high" is a false statement. |
