I got this advice from this board back in March and happily wore my Hokas through London and Paris. Excellent choice for me.

The easiest way to spot Americans abroad is white sneakers

This is not true. I wore white Nike low blazers and every single person spoke to me in German or assumed I was German. It was super weird. They were shocked when I said I was American.

Yes. We live in Euro for 6-8 months out of the year and the white trainers/athelesuire are fairly commonplace looks now. Even amongst the UC. In fact I would say dressing down now is quite trendy for anyone 45 or younger.

You really can wear anything these days. We just got back from Germany and while I wore my Adidas Gazelles, there were lots of different sneaker brands represented.

I saw a ton of new balance when I was there recently.

Wear whatever you want. I was there last month and saw every kind of sneaker you could imagine. Nobody cares! The two friends I visited were wearing Vejas, fyi

Why do people respond to posts in the beauty and fashion forum with “nobody cares, nobody’s looking at you.” The premise of this forum is that some people care!

And I recently got the Puma Palermo’s and recommend them.

No one responded to the OP in that way from what I can see. Many of us were responding to the Debbie Downer who said that wearing white sneakers makes you look like a tourist.

This was true circa 1990. But you may not be aware that white sneakers were very on trend in the past few years, so this is no longer the case. Sort of like fanny packs.... they're now "back" again albeit worn slightly differently.

If you don't keep up with trends, don't respond in the Beauty and Fashion forum.
