| I am looking for something that I can wear with cute summer dresses, but comfortable enough for a LOT of walking. What would you recommend? Right now I just own flats circa 2018 and my running sneakers. |

Sneakers for Paris. |

You're definitely going to look like a tourist. Wear shoes that are comfortable for you. Maybe get your current running shoe in a new color (white?) and go with that. Don't risk your comfort to look slightly better when it doesn't really matter anyway.
I got this advice from this board back in March and happily wore my Hokas through London and Paris. Excellent choice for me. |
| I was in London in January. Anyone not wearing boots was wearing black sneakers with white soles. |
She didn't say anything about not wanting to look like a tourist (which is the dumbest impulse anyway -- you ARE a tourist, who cares if you look like one?). I don't understand why you interjected this caveat instead of just answering the question. To OP -- the sneaker is probably less important than the insoles. Get some good insoles with arch support. |
Why would OP want to mimic what people in London wear? How strange. |
LOL. you're kidding, right? |
For all I know, half the people I saw may have been tourists! |
| Any trainer is fine. Literally no one will be looking at you and everyone will know you are a tourist the moment you speak. |
| Yeah, just focus on something comfortable. |
| I personally like OC's in black with white soles because they don't look as clunky as Hokas or other brands, but they will give you away as an American (even though it is a Swiss brand). Same with Stan Smith's. |

Just came back from London, and I saw Hokas everywhere- and I wasn’t just in touristy places. Because of some interests I’m involved with, I was part of some groups of native Londoners, and I saw Hokas on those folks also.
So, tourist or not, lots of people seem to prioritize foot comfort. |
With streetwear they don't look bad. I wouldn't wear them with a dress though... |
| Why does it matter? You'll never see any of those people again. Wouldn't it only be important to be comfortable? |
| I go to London for work so I've been stopped and asked for directions while wearing a suit. I've also been touristy. Never felt it impacted experience. I absolutely love walking around London and would prioritize comfortable footwear if you can. |
