Do you let your kids eat in the car?

I LOVE eating in the car. Drive thru and lap based sandwiches and French fries balanced betweeen the seat and the center console.

We do pancakes on the run WITH syrup yall.

3 Boys aged 2-6 and one hazmat minivan with every mud mat/seat cover/car seat pad one could buy.

The way I see it - every OEM surface is covered by two layers of amazon sourced rubber and synthetic cloth. So one day…after the chaos, I’ll peel back the layers of protection and have an incredibly well preserved interior.

Why do people care if other people eat a ham & cheese sandwich in the car before soccer practice?

I mean, I’m happy for you that you’ve arranged your schedule around keeping your car clean, since that seems to be important to you. Other families may have 2 parents working full time, & kids in activities where they may need to eat in the car on occasion. It’s not a mortal sin, don’t worry about it.

Nothing crumbly but I'll do string cheese, grapes, etc.

We’re all different…& some families have special needs. Having a kid with ARFID & under the 10th percentile of weight, you kind of go with feeding them as you can. I always pack snacks on outings & if we eat in the car, great!

My kids are, and they don't ever eat in the car.

Yep, sure do. My car is cleaned regularly.

Wtf yes of course. My kid isn't nasty like some of y'all and never has been.

Yep, they definitely eat in the car. As long as it's not causing permanent damage (like, don't pour out a half gallon of milk into the seat cushions), I don't really care if the car gets messy. I'm not performing surgery or living in it. It can be cleaned if we're so moved.

Why quote “road trips”? Lol

We know why. She’s trying to act like road trips are beneath her. Maybe someone who grew up in another country and doesn’t understand the value of road trips.

+1 sounds like an incredibly uptight person whose proudest accomplishment is never have let anyone eat in her car.

Personally I just don't care that much and have not bigger fish to fry.

And then feed to the kids in the car!

Haha good one

Non-sticky drinks only or non-messy quick snacks - never a meal and never crumbly foods like some that you guys have mentioned (peanut butter crackers, granola bars). I am way too much of a neat freak for that ever to have been a consideration in life. Road trip we will always stop for meals at a restaurant/mall/rest stop.

This is on par with the other poster (or same poster?) who didn’t want an empty dirty dish on the sofa during movie night.
So if you don’t like it, no one else in the whole world should either?
Soooo glad I am an adult who can eat what I want on/in the sofa/car I pay for.
Also, who eats so disgustingly that it can’t be cleaned up pretty easily? We’re not having fondue in here…usually a sandwich & an apple. What are you guys eating that is making your cars so disgusting?

No way and I'm hardly a neat freak.

Even my toddler knows "No food in the car!"

Don't care what other people do but the cars of people who do let their kids eat there are gross.

Yes because my children’s sport requires us to drive 45-60 minutes there and back after school. As a result, they will generally have a snack on the way there and eat dinner on the way home.

We don’t have time to eat a snack at home before leaving because they get off the bus and we head out and I’m not going to deprive them of nutrition before they engage in physical activity for a few hours. We could eat dinner not driving but then they’d just get home later, so the trade off of having food in the car for more time to shower and do homework is worth it to us. We get the car detailed on a regular basis.

My best friend lives in a town where all activities are within 5 minutes of their house. They never eat in their car. It doesn’t make them better than us. Our lives and schedules are just different.

Typically no, because of the choking hazard.

But when we’re on a longer drive I pack the puree pouches with a silicon top which prevents spilling. I don’t think there’s any award given for having a clean car with toddlers.
