Dealing with a kid peeing on our fence?

Anonymous
Is the kid in the alley with the cars? Or on their own property? Or coming onto OP’s property? I would answer in three different ways.

Aren't you able to speak from.your camera? Yell at him to stop.

No humans peeing on the fence!

But a kid may not be able to read.

Is there a community listserve you could post this to, without having to confront the parents ?

I would want to warn my kid that they are being videotaped.

It's a square brick alley with probably 50 houses backing up to it on all sides. Imagine something like the picture. Some parents let their kids play in it. I don't as the trash/Fedex/Amazon trucks rip through it and the visibility is really bad. He runs up to our fence and pees on it.

I don't check my phone that often during the workday and by the time I see the "person detected in alley" notification the kid is gone

OP just pretend you don’t know about this and go on with your life. He’s five. This problem will solve itself.

Install electric fence.

Definitely tell the parents. This is not ok.

He’s 5. I’d let it go.

Yes, and I highly suspect some people would change their answer if it were a 5 year old girl hiking up and squatting on a regular basis.

He's old enough to know better.

I'm in my 40s and I still take a leak outside now and then. So do my friends if we're all sitting in someone's backyard having drinks. No need to go inside and risk waking up the kids.

I wouldn’t want my neighbors having a video of my kid’s privates so I’d want to know.

This is why you say something, and hopefully, the parents so correct it so you don't raise this type of undignified person.

Same here.

A handful of times now, definitely more than once.

Mentioned it to the parents, then. I wouldn't be a fan of it either but it's not end of times. The kid is 5. Ask if they can encourage the kid to pee on the neighbor's fence on the other side of the yard instead.

Yup. just mention it to mom and dad. If you want your kids to have freedom to roam you need to be sure they have basic manners.
