Does the u14 really have all the top players in the DMV? U14 lost to 2 non-academy teams that they did NOT easily beat in the fall, at least not SYC. The fall results for DCU vs SYC was 2-1. Rumors are many on DCU U14 have tight networks and selection was most based on who knows who and very political.

NP here. I agree with these statements. I do think the players are talented on that DCU team but your last sentence is spot on. There are many just as and even more talented same age players on other teams.

Can you believe a professional academy looks at all these better more talented players and say, Nah, let's take big risks and invest in lesser players.
Helluva business model

After tying Philly Union and beating NY Red Bulls recently, a partial U14's squad lost this weekend to a team they beat 8:1 in the Fall

Only people dunce about soccer would think there's reason for news headlines on the demise of the Academy

How does an academy team allow a team they beat previously 8-1, to turn around and let that team beat them 5-2? This is a team sport of 11 players...2-3 players that are out can't be the ones carrying the team week after week. Just saying.

Maybe DCU should drop the stupid philosophy of focusing on development.
Make it only about winning.

Get rid of the multiple players playing up, go all big early bloomers on age and throw in bio-banded kids too.

Anyone got DCU U14 video links to past weekend matches against SYC and Delco?

I'm pretty sure the players at the DC United Academy and their parents don't spend any time thinking about what my kid is doing at his club

They’re too busy thinking about what kids at good pro academies are doing.

If your kid is actually on DCUA, why in the world would you come onto this board to ask "What's going on with DCUA?" You're there - if there were actually anything wrong, you'd know. And regardless, losing two games is hardly a reason to be concerned. Do you honestly think they can't ever lose? Any team can be beaten. So lame.

True! People like to stir up crap on anonymous board. Just look at all the posts about ECNL. Sigh.

Wow, is this the DCU U14 b team? Very little ball control going on in this game. DCU seems to be trying to play from the back and SYC is just booting it. Good defending from SYC though.

That's the SYC story.

Don't know the SYC narrative but from the looks of the MLSN 2010 team its more strategic because they have a large, and talented midfielder who they target every time

Oh for sure. It's not accidental. They take advantage of their skilled and physically dominant players and are successful because of it.

Go to the 29:45 mark and watch for 45 seconds. This is why US Soccer is hopeless.
