Most dental coverage does not cover orthodontia. In order to have orthodontia, you need to add a rider to your insurance. Most employers do not provide this insurance. MCPS teachers have it so good.

Plenty of dental plans offer some reimbursement for braces for kids. I'm sorry yours doesn't..What would be unusual is covering braces for adults, but that is not what this plan does. This is not an unusual benefit.

In order to fund any benefits properly they can charge premiums that cover the benefits. The reason they have a $40M deficit is because they have not been charging sufficient premiums to cover the costs.

Good grief. Talk it all back. $1,000 is not much, and teachers pay insurance premiums and work so many more hours than they are actually paid for.
