Help me find teen snack ideas - so lame I know

I remember my brothers eating those Swanson frozen pot pies for an after school snack. Or homemade milkshakes.

I think that some teens expect snacks with zero effort. Food that has to heated (e.g. frozen pizza, microwave popcorn) or combined (e.g. chips and salsa) doesn't count. I'm not saying that's how it should be, but that may be what they're asking for.

I have one teen boy and one teen girl. The boys like:
1) Trader Joe's "takis"
2) Potato chips
3) Delivery: Chipotle, Five Guys, pizza
They do not choose to eat chips and salsa, carrots and hummus, fruit, etc., even if they are available.
The girls like:
1) Fresh baked goods (cookies, brownies)
2) Fruit like grapes, strawberries, sumo citrus - anything that is easy to eat with your hands
3) Pizza delivery, sushi delivery
4) Chips like Doritos, TJ's "takis"

We eat home-made meals most of the time and fruit and salads, so I do not mind the occasional junk food with friends. They are also both tall and underweight athletes. The only thing I tend not to buy are sugary drinks. The kids seem happy with Lacroix type seltzers.

Teens don’t want this as a snack.

I guess I’ll have to tell my teens and their friends that then.

Well once they become teens, goldfish, Danimals and Dino nuggets are all the rage again

My teens love:
Cheez-its
Trail mix, the kind with M&Ms
Beef jerky
Oreos
Cereal
Takis or flaming hot cheetos
Mini candy bars, like Halloween sized

Make those frozen meatballs in the crockpot with grape jelly and Heinz chili sauce. They are inhaled by teens I know.

My kids friends love everything on this list.

Rice crispy treats (packaged or homemade.)

The biggest hits are

Dino nuggets (even my college student loves these!)
Mini corn dogs
Pirate booty
Strawberries
Fresh choc chip cookies (I keep dough refrigerated or frozen)
Dominoes pizza and their brookies
Pineapple (fresh cut)
Waters, sprite, lemonades

What hasn’t been a hit:

Wings (shocker I guess too dirty)
Mozz sticks (I think they cool too quick)
Grapes
Tortilla chips and dips of any kind (queso, guac, or salsa)
Carrots and hummus
Popcorn
Any dessert besides cookies or brownies
Coke, Diet Coke, root beer, juices

So I tend to just keep my garage fridge stocked with foods I can easily heat up or I just order dominoes pizza and brookies.

Yep! I was shocked at how the fresh pineapple got scarfed up. One time I had cut one the night before to grill and had some leftover. G.o.n.e.

I would add:

Aldi’s Extra Cheddar “Turtles” (their goldfish knockoff that doesn’t leave orange powder on your fingers)
Pretzels with “dip” (they raid the condiment fridge shelf - mustards, salad dressings, and a variety of Asian sauces like hoisin, sweet chili, teriyaki)
Bibigo dumplings
Quesadillas (sometimes just with shredded cheese but any leftover shredded meats are a plus)
Sweet Tea (I grew up in NC and as did several of our regular teen guests parents so it’s a thing, I suppose)

But the never-fail, never-any-left: home baked chocolate chip cookies.

Same. Bagels go fast. Just like orange juice.

And Trader Joe’s cinnamon rolls from the refrigerated section. The icing is gross so while they’re baking we make our own simple glaze with a few Tbs powdered sugar and water.

Most teens want junk food, not bagels and cream cheese. Of course there are exceptions. Is your teen a girl?

Both boys and girls at our house like junky snacks, but the boys are most likely to go for bagels and cream cheese and/or quesadillas when they want something more like a meal.

Costco also has big boxes of taquitos that they love. And weirdly, those huge croissants.

+2. Boys are definitely eating bagels and cream cheese. My boys are starving all the time, even when they just ate a full meal an hour ago. A bagel is like a potato chip to them. Burned up in an instant.
