if someone lives in Herndon and son plays Herndon top team is it worth trying out for VDA ECNL? The drive to VDA seems super far from where I live in Herndon but on the other hand I don't want to miss out on the "opportunity" for him!?
waste of time
There are probably better options that are closer to you than dealing with that commute. |
RL has some good players and teams. Not everyone plans to play soccer in college or has the resources for the travel the ECNL teams have to do. Its a great platform but simply not playing at they level definitely does not mean a player can’t do so.
How will the merger impact RL kids being able to play up on the NL team? There are several kids at Arlington who moved from RL (known as the ‘red’ team in Arlington) to ECNL in the last couple of years. Many of those guest played for the NL team before moving up fully. Will McLean RL kids be able to do it? What about BRYC kids?
Watched a few of the DCSC teams play on the girls side this past weekend. Might be rough for them in 24/25.

RL has been great for our DD. She can do other sports and still play competitive soccer.
There are lots of girls doing the same thing on her team. Lots of volleyball, basketball, track, etc.... |
Other leagues, including NCSL or the one DCSC was in prior didn't stop them from doing those either I'm sure. But this jump in competition for them isn't going to be fun.
I never realized that DCSC was big enough to field a team at every age group between U13 and U18/19.
Didn’t DCSC grab some people from McLean or Arlington last year? The other question is how will they like playing in the fall (older kids) as they play HS then? And where will they put those teams in the spring? EDP or NCSL I assume?
