U14 and below is valuable training and playing experience for girls on boys teams. An elite girl player in those early ages that is phisical and technically sound would be an equal or better contributor than the average boy player.
At the early ages, the benefit for the girls is tapping into a play mentality that is fundamentally different than the one on the girls side. It’s not for everyone but you can always tell a girl who plays with boys - more selfish, more cunning, more opportunistic. These are all things that are not valued or encouraged in girls soccer. Girls are socially conditioned to feel bad when they beat a teammate or suppress their competitiveness in order to be more likeable, boys are not, etc. No real benefit to separating pre-pubescent players by gender. Technique, mentality, commitment are far more important in the development environment. Most elite training outside of club doesn’t differentiate until much later when size and physical strength kicks in because they’re not burdened by the establishment the way clubs and leagues are. OP specifically asked about MLSNext in the DMV area and the answer is likely - no, few if any. And the reason is that there isn’t much opportunity for boys and girls to develop together in a competitive environment so by the time they’re of age to participate in the elite leagues, the competitive gameplay gap is too wide for many to succeed. |
Thank you! Real soccer head amongst us on DCUM, is it 4/1? |
| Nope, it’s still your average condescending, know-it-all, toxic d1ck day. |
And many of the MLS Next teams are very focused on size and physicality over technical skills, tactical and soccer IQ So injuries are high |
| Can dogs make dinner reservations? |
Probably better than you. |
part time playing, not anymore |
Have you seen men’s college soccer? Rugby with a different shaped ball. |
My dog doesn’t have to, he gets invited everywhere. Owner of luxury hotel invited him to the penthouse suite to watch the fireworks last summer. He’s asked to come in even when “no dogs are allowed” in stores and restaurants. When you look that good doors open. |
| My son's U16 ECNL team played against an MLS Next team with a girl on it. They are out there. She came on as a sub. I think the team was from Jersey. It was a few weeks ago in that Best of the East tournament. |
