At the early ages, the benefit for the girls is tapping into a play mentality that is fundamentally different than the one on the girls side. It’s not for everyone but you can always tell a girl who plays with boys - more selfish, more cunning, more opportunistic. These are all things that are not valued or encouraged in girls soccer. No real benefit to separating pre-pubescent players by gender. Technique, mentality, commitment are far more important in the development environment. Most elite training outside of club doesn’t differentiate until much later when size and physical strength kicks in because they’re not burdened by the establishment the way clubs and leagues are.

OP specifically asked about MLSNext in the DMV area and the answer is likely - no, few if any. And the reason is that there isn’t much opportunity for boys and girls to develop together in a competitive environment so by the time they’re of age to participate in the elite leagues, the competitive gameplay gap is too wide for many to succeed.[/quote]
