Given that new VRSC GA is the old FCV GA coaching staff, it’s presumably the same naming convention that FCV currently uses for its second teams, which of course do not play in the GA. |
This is exactly what it is. A lot of parents/players who don’t know any better are just hearing the name “GA2” thinking “Ok, I didn’t make GA1 but I made GA2 and that’s almost as good!”. You’ll get your GA badge to iron on your jersey that you’ll be wearing to all your EDP/NCSL games. Just another club marketing gimmick designed to get parents/players to accept an offer that sounds better than it really is. |
Lots of clubs do this. Bethesda calls its first and second YDP teams “ECNL1” and “ECNL2” years before ECNL even starts. |
| And every RL club around NoVA calls their U11/U12 first teams their 'Pre-ECNL' teams. |
| The league is telling clubs they have to use that naming scheme; the clubs aren’t being obnoxious with this. |
It's no less disingenuous regardless of who is assigning the name! "What team are you on?" "I'm on GA2!" "So you play in the GAL?" "Oh, no, we play in EDP and NCSL. But we have this cool GA patch on our jerseys and backpacks!" |
This sounds like a club blaming their nonsense on “the league”. If you’re on a GA team, then you’re playing in the GAL. Otherwise, you’re not really on a GA team no matter what name is assigned to a team. You can call an EDP or NCSL team “GA2” but that doesn’t make it so. |
Why? Its completely misleading. There is literally NO such thing as "GA2" for league play. You are either on the GAL, or you are not. Its like LS calling their third team ECNL3 (which doesn't exist)... |
Because clubs do it? Nobody is up in arms about VSA calling their 2nd teams 'Pre-ECNL II' playing in some low division of NCSL. |
| Did anyone notice Revolution GA 2 teams all went NCSL for Spring? Mostly Division 2. |
Thats not a bad placeholder for a 2nd team. But, I believe that all GA2 teams should be moved into the new Aspire GA2 league in the fall. With an opportunity for regional and national championship if teams do well enough in league play. |
Saw the u13-u16 GA2 teams all in NCSL- That’s a tough pill to swallow. Especially for those in u14 and u15 who didn’t even slot into the top division of NCSL. |
This was for Fall. It’s a bad look - especially if they VRSC GA teams are pushed down to Aspire as appears to be the case. We will be leaving - can’t justify it any longer at that point. |
Why are you worried about GA2 teams? GA2 has no relation to girls academy at VRSC. Different coaches, different separate training. |
