Did a lot of people from here apply to University of Florida for fall 2024?

This is the biggest negative.

A lot of students get into Florida via a program called Pace where you would take your first 60 credits online and then finish on campus thereafter. But a lot of people don't mind getting accepted into Pace bc many of the traditionally admitted students end up having to take many of their classes online for the for year anyways.

We have friends whose DC attends and loves it. Does social science and public policy - is a go getter worldly independent kid.

They currently live abroad but purposely got FL residency at some point and pay FL state tax there so they could apply in state for U Florida (knowing costs were so low for instate.) They never lived in FL before they left to live abroad.

Meanwhile their second ended up in school in TX.

We’ll see about the third.

Business classes, in particular, at UF are known to be heavily online.

I went to UF and it was an amazing 4 years. I loved the campus!

I got into every school I applied to (Duke, Tulane, university of Miami plus my safety of FSU) but 100% never thought about attending anywhere else. Most kids I know were the same. I’m sure if I could have gotten into Ivy League the calculus would been different. It was free too thanks to bright futures.

I think UVA is very similar and am not sure why someone from DC would choose UF when UVA is great and close by.

UVA is harder to get into I think- also UF's OOS tuition is on par with in-state tuition for VA schools.

I have a junior there and they have very few online classes. Maybe 1 or 2 the entire time. I do think it's dependent on major a bit. She's a science major.

Pretty amazing that the flagship university of a state where the governor made returning to school in person during covid a major rallying cry has lots of online classes.
