Everyone seems to be missing the point. Is she eating normally? My dd had bulimia at age 15 and we definitely noticed disordered eating and quickly leaving the table to go up to her room etc. I see only a post about loss of weight nothing else. We need more detail.

What change of habits are you referring to, OP? |
This does seem a bit too thin. My 15yo DD is 5’5” 100 and she is about as thin as it gets (our ped is absolutely not concerned- she has always been thin and is a very late bloomer, still growing and has gained 10lbs and 1.5inches in the past year). As for OP- it isn’t the weight that is concerning- but the weight LOSS is disturbing. I’d schedule an appt with pediatrician ASAP and note the urgency. Surely this should fall under “sick visit” so you should be able to get in soon. |
I reported this post and requested that admin call for a police welfare check. This is <1%ile well beyond the realm of normal, into extremely dangerous. I pray this comment's numbers were a typo. |
Get lost. |
If either of her numbers are slightly off - or even a minor typo (wouldn’t surprise me…who monitors their kids height and weight daily) she could be relatively fine. My DDs close friend (freshman) is naturally super skinny and a competitive swimmer and has to drink weight gaining shakes to keep weight stable. Her mom was beside herself with worry and is working closely with the ped. Sometimes it happens…but obviously addressing it is the key factor. |
Did you weight her on the same scale both times? There is a good ten lb difference between my home scale and the doctors scale.
If she’s truly lost that much weight I would rule out other medical issues before attaching to a diagnosis. The weight and height of itself isn’t overly alarming. Some pps ate being a bit presumptuous. |
I was roughly the same height and weighed 86lbs going into my freshman year of highschool. I do not have nor have I ever had an eating disorder.
Before seeking eating disorder treatment rule out underlying health conditions and have a chat with you daughter about it. |
The problem is not the number on the scale. It's the dramatic weight loss and change of eating habits. |
+1 Also my own and my kids’ weights fluctuate 5+lbs day to day even on the same scale (I have a teen DS who is trying to gain weight for his sport) or if not standing on the scale quite right. It is a long shot but this could be possible if different scales + different times of day + clothing difference etc. |
God some of you people are missing the point - this is not about what you weighed at that age, or what your child weighs...this is about a child who has lost a scary sounding amount of weight in a short period of time. Try to keep up and if you can't help just shhhhhh |
DP but my DD is two years younger, same height, weighs 100 pounds, and looks skinny as a rail. This poster’s daughter is indeed scary skinny IMO. |
OP, can you please respond? What have you done? I hope you had her admitted today. |
My new 13 year old girl is 5’3” and weighs 130 pounds. All her friends are similar. Fit healthy (none heavy) soccer girls.
Get your child to the ER immediately, OP. |
Same with my 13yo. |
