I’m a therapist for teens and I treat kids who go to Cooper, Longfellow, etc and the things some of them say/wear is appalling —> fight clubs in the bathrooms, the toxic social media , drugs, promiscuity.
I am not against having kids be exposed to the “real world” but perhaps delaying some of this exposure until they are more grounded on their two feet as in Highschool is not a bad plan

You don’t think your sample is slightly biased if you are a therapist? Are you saying your private school patients don’t report issues with drugs and sex?

I don't have kids in any of the schools I mentioned. My kids are still young. I am aware of the culture among middle school girls due to my friends who have kids that age. They say more nerdy the girls are, the less they talk about fashion, make up stuff.

I think this is a bit misleading.

Many of the nerdy girls are really into sexuality right now as that is what is being pushed by the social.media culture. My teens mentioned the big thing right now among the quirky/nerdy crowd is polyamory and multiple partners.

These are not the Star Trek nerds you grew up with in the 80s/90s/00s.

As the parent of three nerdy teens, nothing you are saying resonates. These kids and their friends are definitely behind in social things like dating and partying.

Catholic school will teach the things you want, OP, but those kids are always far ahead of others in promiscuity and drinking. This has been well know for generations.

^ Agree which is why we are doing Catholic School in nova until the culture calms down a bit and then switch to public for HS. One of my neighbors’ daughters goes to Thoreau and states she is “Pansexual” in the 8th grade. Huh, as a 13 year old how do you know that you are attracted to male, female, transexual, intersex , etc ???

Frost/Woodson has studious girls who wear hijab and aren't partying. They also have girls who pack new outfits in their backpack for the minute they get off the bus and lie to parents about what they actually do after school. If your child wants to be wild, any FCPS public school will give them the chance to do so. And if they don't, I'd imagine most big schools they could find a like minded cohort.

Went to Catholic in Dearborn. Plenty of Muslim kids in Catholic schools there including mine when I was a
