Sexual Assault By Uber Driver on Teen in DC

I'm sorry for your friend's daughter and I hope she finds a way to heal from the incident both physically and mentally. I do not believe the parents are at fault at all.

Me again, I missed that the victim was a male. In either case, I wish them healing.

My kids take Ubers. One takes them home from parties to ensure no driving if any alcohol has been taken by anyone. He usually drops of his girlfriends first and then comes home last so he is alone in the Uber for the last leg. My other ds takes them rarely but is giant so might not be an easy target. This is awful and sad and I’m sorry for your friend’s son. I grew up in NY where taking a taxi is normal starting at age 12.

Teen in a car alone with an unknown individual? That sounds like good parenting.
Parents don’t have time for their kids apparently.

Sounds like you are comfortable with underage drinking and seemingly condoning it.

Well, no, they fscking don't, because they have to work to afford the skyrocketing costs of keeping themselves and their offspring alive, assclown. It's not unreasonable for a parent to use a transportation service to transport their kid.

It's unreasonable for the person being paid to provide that service to assault someone.

Clear now? Idiot.

My soon to be 16-year old son looks really young, skinny skinny. I’m still protective of him about this type of thing.

My Senior son, 18, though looks like a man. He looks like he could be 24.

If we are talking 13, 14, 15… yeah not alone. Not even together until 16/17 earliest.

My kids do ride Metro- but tons of people. Safety in numbers.

It was a son, not daughter.

Sorry honey, both my parents worked and I never, ever got a ride with a stranger.

Oh, so working is now an excuse to irresponsibly place children in harm.

They are both unreasonable. The op’s friend found that out or you think it’s made up.

You can substantially reduce or eliminate the risk, by staying on live audio or video chat for the duration of the ride. Use modern tech for good purposes.

Me! My teen used to walk/metro/bus everywhere, but it is way too dangerous out there now. Uber is the safest choice for our car less city family. I wouldn’t have thought so either, but I certainly didn’t anticipate how horribly this city would be run to the ground.

So?
1.Females can sexually assault people too.
2. OP's friend's son was a male...maybe some female Uber drivers don't want to drive male passengers. Can female Uber drivers make that request?
3. You're really narrowing the pool of potential Uber drivers: female only AND willing to drive UberTeen?
