How did you meet your partner/spouse etc.?

At a BBQ hosted by mutual friends. I was on a date with another guy who left me with his friend while he went to get me a drink. The friend and I hit it off and four months later we were engaged. Less than four months after that we were married. We're expecting our third child this winter. Fate!

A while back there was an identical post asking how people met...and it seemed like the majority met online. It's so common!

When I met you.
I picked you out, I shook you up, and turned you around,
turned you into someone new.

Sorry, I couldn't resist

Close. your quote would have been fine had it said:
"You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar"

but the real answer was:

That much is true
But even then I knew I'd find a much better place
Either with or without you.

Now five years later on you've got the world at your feet
Success has been so easy for you
But don't forget it's me who put you where you are now
And I can put you back down too

We were neighbors! Went on a date and it bombed, but a year later ended up hanging out with mutual friends and hit it off.

My husband and I knew each other since elementary school. We never dated until shortly after high school graduation.

hmmm. . . so many combinations:
- two lesbians?
- one straight woman, one cross-dresser?
- two drag queens?
- straight woman, drunk straight male?

Online dating site. Our first date was ok, not great, and I never responded to his follow up emails and calls. Then we ran into each other in person at a coffee shop, and struck up a conversation, and I found that I liked him better than I had thought. Now we have been married for 6 years, one kid!

Ditto, 5 years later and a couple of kids.

us too- I was DH's first on-line date and I went on maybe 8 or 10 before meeting him. We tell everyone though- i have no issues with on-line dating. We've been to more than 10 weddings - all on-line matches.
