The original Monk?

That would be a good idea for our family but it's an old show, right? It still works?

Yes, the original. Still hilarious and entertaining.

Another vote for the new Percy Jackson series.

+50 to the new Percy Jackson series. We loved Top Chef (though pretty sure you have to pay for that), counting the bleeps in Hells Kitchen (high point was 120+ in an episode), and more seriously, Doctor Who and the new Star Treks. Strange New Worlds has been great, and if you were a Star Trek fan Lower Decks is amazing with its (non intrusive) Easter egg fan service.

My 6th grader loved "psych" the two main characters were funny and it has a mystery each show. Wish there was something similar.

I think these shows would be fine for a sixth grader, but appropriateness is highly subjective and can vary widely according to the family’s concerns and the individual child. I highly suggest you check Common Sense Media and or the IMDB Parents Guide (section under each title in IMDB).

I think sone of these have been rebooted, so in that case my recommendation probably refers to a 70’’s/80s version, but for all I know, the reboot might be as good or better.

Flight 29 Down
Merlin
Star Trek Next Generation
Eureka
Series of Unfortunate Events
Dr. Who
MASH
McGyver
Quantum Leap
Magnum PI
Greatest American Hero

I'm the earlier PP suggesting Monk. My DS watched psych after Monk and loved it as well! Monk also has a mystery each show, I would consider it similar to Psych.

I know this sounds crazy but my ten year old has really gotten into WWII documentaries and movies. He often watches them with my father and they spend a lot of time talking about the show afterward. He also like any show that deals with science projects or adventures.

Ha. Our neighbor is watching Magnum PI with his sixth grader!

Young Sheldon
Wonder Years (original and the reboot)
Doogie Howser, MD (original and the reboot)

We just started Big Bang Theory after Young Sheldon. He likes it but not nearly as much as Young Sheldon.
