Delay on Thursday? Or not?

+1, can we just do a delay please? Counts as a full day and kids are in class and learning (for all you people obsessed with “loss of instructional time”, as if MCPS is anything more that a glorified babysitting institute)

I don't understand- why would there be a delay? Are you seriously suggesting schools can't open if it is below 32F? That's insane.

Today wasn’t canceled because of snow. It was canceled because of ice. Icy conditions will close schools almost anywhere.

No, the conditions this morning would not have closed schools "almost anywhere." It's not like there was freezing rain overnight. If schools always closed for this, then schools in the upper midwest would never open in the winter.

So, is that your way of betting that McKnight will close it down again?

Only we if we also all agree that whether or not a thing is insane is not a predictor of whether or not MCPS will do it.

Good thing we have these, what do you call them, winter coats? And central heating.

Strong disagree. It predicts MCPS will do it.

Maybe you're the one that needs to go back to school if you think I said anything about schools closing because it's below 32F.

Kids go to school when it's below freezing all the time but there usually isn't black ice is there?

I would be fine with two consecutive two hour delays because it has been very icy in the early morning, but since they caved and canceled today, then they are under pressure to start on time tomorrow. no strategic thinking on the parts of these people. they should have gotten the parking lots plowed and gone to school 2hrs late today and done the same tomorrow. That seems reasonable to me. now people will be slipping and sliding to get to school on time.

50% chance for 3-6 inches on Friday

If it's below freezing, there's likely to be some ice. Did you even venture out of your house today? Conditions were fine.
