Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
| I am guessing no. |
| Why not? |
| Because MCPS thinks it looks bad compared to school districts that stayed open and managed to make it work with a delay. And they’re worried about Friday’s snow. |
| No. We need to be there at least once this week. |
Lmao a delay is NOT the same thing as a closing. Delays count as full instructional days as per their calendar. Let the kids get some sleep. (Although it seems there are talks of virtual…) |
|
Prepare for a full day on Thursday.
The sunlight today really helped clear sidewalks and streets. If you live in an icescape, you are now in the distinct minority. The forecast for Friday is 1-3 inches in the morning as of Wednesday afternoon models. We'll know more tomorrow. |
+1. What's another day? |
Prepare for both. MCPS has shown that they can't make decisions in reasonable time frames, and that they are willing to make people scramble. So, go to bed on time, but also make a plan for how you will handle it if they delay or close at the last moment, and then keep your phone close. |
| ^ 1 inch for inside the Beltway, 2 inches for the rest of MoCo. 3 inches would be further north. But predictions can still change. |
This is another reason I think we’ll have a full day tomorrow. |
| Just announced normal. |
| I was right! Too bad though. So cold. |
Good thing students are not learning outside…. |
|
MCPS showed true incompetence today. They waited until 45 minutes past the deadline to announce that they realized they didn't do their job of clearing schools and would thus close schools.
WHO IS RESIGNING? |
| They could still change to a delay. It’s going to be in the low teens when HS kids are walking their 2 miles to school. Everything will refreeze. Only bus routes in our area were treated properly. Every other road is a mess |
