Addiction is real.
And people don’t really get how real the invasive features of this app are.

Please tell me, as if I am 5 years old, how CHINA is going to rule the world because I watch dog videos on TikTok.

Please explain it to me.
They're going to take me down because I’m on booktok, for sure. I’m a sitting duck! Only a matter of time before my interest in faerie smut catches up with me.

I think china got me already because of fourth wing booktok!

I'm on Menopause Tok. Think they want me?

Have you actually made an account? It’s a very different experience compared to just looking at the generic front page and what is trending.

It’s great for following hobbies, home dyi, cooking, celebrities, news, humor, etc.

I have a mix of content creators that have humorous shticks, news, medical folks, animal pages, etc. I like TT as an end of day wind down. But I really enjoy my for you page because I get the random new content creators or viral posts and learn a lot about things I would have had no exposure to otherwise. There are a lot of really interesting voices sharing their stories. Very humanizing.

But I am curious - can you elaborate how it is tracking me outside the app?

I’m sure that’s possible but it’s also helping people ‘learn’ completely false things that people take as true like, you know, history. (Not pointing a finger at you.)
So some of us don’t get it and see it is dangerous.

I love Tik and have learned things about cooking.

I rarely watch the news anymore and there are news clips on tiktok that relate to things I read elsewhere.

I love especially the Taylor content.

But really the biggest draw is the humor. Some of these accounts are so dang funny.

This. Also, having explored TikTok and having found the content not to your taste, why do you keep wanting to make yourself like it?

Uh huh. So now TikTok feeds you "news". That's not disturbing at all!

Why do I sense AI bots responding to this thread?

Ha, just search for menopause doctors and follow all of them like I do. That'll fix things.

I read the vast majority of my news.

LOL on the people who watch and believe Fox News. God bless us all. This country is so hopelessly dumb.

Ha you two are making me (DP) laugh. You know when old white dudes in khaki shorts make jokes about the youths, and feel so smug about being witty and superior when really their jokes are just painfully unfunny and out of touch? That's what these comments remind me of.

You might give YouTube a try. I’ve noticed lately a lot of YouTube shorts seem to be Tiktokers reposting their TikToks.

There’s also a wide variety of longer videos available to choose from, across all subjects.

I’ve never really used Tiktok, but my impression is that YouTube has a wider range of videos without the ties to the Chinese government.
