If the Schools Have the HSPT Scores, Why Don't We?

Anonymous
Out of curiosity do the students HSPT percentiles align with the school standardized testing? My DC's SSAT matched the other standardized results. Are the HSPT scores more from a concern for admission or the scholarships?

That’s weird and imo is a disadvantage to those students where some schools application deadlines fall before late Jan. But that’s their prerogative.

Families choosing a Jan date aren’t affecting ADW policy or any other student who took the test in the ADW.

All that said, you two should think about why you are applying to Catholic schools and whether your attitudes would be a good fit with the general mission of these schools. Because you’re both ridiculous.

Are there *any* Catholic school deadlines where you would have the HSPT results prior to the admission deadline? Our applications have always been due in December and no test results until January.

This question comes up every year. Yes, waiting is annoying, but is there any disadvantage?

So your late ass kid is slowing everything down. Thanks a lot. 😕

Plenty of kids tested this past weekend. That was an available testing date (after a one week weather delay). These kids aren’t slowing anything down for others. Chill out!

Then why didn’t they take it in December like most normal parents had their kids do? Why so late - for extra study time to gain an advantage and force everyone to have to wait months for their score?

My kid had a legitimate conflict with the December test so took it in January. That’s it, no sinister or sneaky reason. Why on earth would someone get so bend out of shape over this?

Again, the Arlington Diocese offers two test dates. Families can choose January if that works better for their schedule. And this doesn’t hold up anyone’s scores. Move on!

It seems as if the real issue is with ADW and the seemingly unnecessary delay in returning scores to families. If Arlington Diocese can do it, why can't ADW?

Why does it matter?

Cause we want them earlier. Duh.

Ask them.

Anyone who took the test Jan 2 at Georgetown Visitation have their score yet?

Do you mean December 2? We did and do not have our scores yet. Still.

My 3 kids all had higher HSPT percentiles than their standardized testing.
They're a concern for admissions, scholarships and/or placement into honors classes, but to different degrees at different high schools.

Agree, its insulting but until current parents speak up and demand better...

The other thing is that the test isn't for the parent or the student. Its for the admissions office and they see the context which you will never see which is a ranked list of applicants by HSPT score and sorted by K-8 school, probably zip code and all kind of other ways.

But I completely agree those results should be provided asap to parents. Ideally before even the application due date. There are doubtless kids that get 95+ and think "crap I should have applied to School X" and kids that get 45th percentile and immediately realize they wasted $200 on applications that are now in the trash.
