high quality place for ear piercing (NOT claire's at the mall)

I took my 3 year old to an ENT dr to have it done.

Yes, white folks she was very young to have her ears pierced. In my culture, babies typically get theirs pierced.

Vote for Craig Pokes U. That's where my 10 yr old DDs went.

Another vote for Craig Pokes U. After bad piercings at Piercing Pagoda and Claire's we finally got a good experience there (and as a walk-in)

Your defensiveness is unwarranted and unattractive. Race is different than culture. I'm as white as white can be and from the midwest. In my culture, we also pierce babies' ears. My ears were pierced as a baby. I had my DD's ears pierced at 3 months.

My DD did her first one at Ketterman's in Leesburg.

They don’t take walk ins I thought. You need a reservation with a deposit.

has anyone had a nurse do it?

Just go to Craig Pokes U. Don't mess with nurses and pediatricians and mall places. Who has the time to find the right ones? Craig Pokes U specializes in this and many recommend that place--including me and a whole host of my friends and most of DCUM.

Someone said they had a bad experience there so I am worried.

I had this done by the pediatrician and the punch got struck half-way through the first lobe. Do not recommend.

Unpopular opinion, but I think we (the collective we) are making something simple unnecessarily complicated.

I took my oldest to a highly recommended piercing place. The place was very clean, I'll give it that. It was expensive, a very adult atmosphere, the piercer cursed repeatedly in front of my 13 and 9 year old. And then expected a tip. The fake "stone" on the earring fell of in less than a week and then my daughter had skin grow over the back of the earring on one side. Painful.

We went to Lovisa in Tyson's the other day. It was like $39, the lady was super sweet, done quickly, the earrings look nice, all seems well.

Just go to Claire's or Lovisa. Most of us did this when we were kids/teens and we are perfectly fine.

OP, I would solve the being afraid of pain problem by telling your daughter that it will hurt a little (way less than a shot) and she needs to be prepared for that if she really wants to do it. I consider that a maturity issue. YMMV.

I would not recommend it as they do not do it frequently enough.

Same. We had the pediatrician do the first piercing. When my DD got her 2nd, we went to Craig Pokes U and it was a much better experience with placement and healing.

We also used Craig Pokes U for my then 10 year old. I’d let her get a second hole if she wanted and we’d go again, but her school prohibits 2nd piercings. It was pricey though.

And yet another vote for Craig Pokes U. We had a very good experience but it was pricey, lots of paperwork, and so when DD wanted her 2nd piercing (still lobes, but above the last ones) we asked her to find a regular piercing place in VA and we went to Queens Gambit because we figured, how can any real piercing place go wrong? Well we found out. Nothing truly horrible, but would never go there again.

So it confirmed for me that Craig Pokes U does it right, plus they really do a great job with people who are scared or nervous. Though as someone else said, I don't think anyone uses actual numbing meds or cremes. But they do it quickly and we had no problems with the even-ness of the holes.

Craig pokes You is extremely professional.

They do a lot of piercings, including piercings much more challenging than ear lobes, such as labia and hood piercings, on a daily basis.
