How long have you waited in line at the pharmacy?

Prescription drug use is also at an all time high. Pharmacists have also been asking for an increase in their scope of practice so they spend more time on vaccines and “advising” than managing the techs. Techs are hourly employees with very little training and need sign off for everything. It backs up.

More than half of Americans take one prescription drug per month. That’s why pharmacies are crowded.

I never wait in line at the pharmacy. Pick a smaller pharmacy! There are so many pharmacies around - why pick one that makes you wait?

The CVS at 1150 W Broad St in Falls Church is relatively good. There have been times I’ve had to wait but rarely more than 10 minutes or so, and the pharmacists there are really helpful.

You should switch to family-run The Medicine Chest pharmacy. And they deliver.

There are others in downtown McLean, too.

It's this area. I was in Buffalo NY with no wait times and everyone was so nice. But nobody wants to live in the that cold and snowy hellhole.

CVS now offers lunch 1/2 hours for their pharmacists and pharmacy support staff.

A pharmacist deserves a 1/2 break on a 10 or 12 hour shift.

CVS was having pharmacists quit due to lack of breaks.

Military hospital you can wait a few hours. Not allowed same day refills so you wait days and if you run out by accident too bad.

Anyone have any ideas for actual solutions? This can't keep going on, somethings gotta give, and I am willing to be an activist to work on this, but don't know where to start

My solution is to come back another time when it’s not busy and use mail-order whenever possible. Seems to work and a lot less involved in whether “activism” bullshit you’re mulling.

This. OP is acting like this is a health care issue, but it's really a retail issue. So dumb.

I go to Harris Teeter pharmacy. I’ve never waited more than a couple of minutes for pickup.

I live close to McLean CVS, I have found out that the trick is to go there during non rush hours. I go at 8:30 and there are one or two people in the line,I never go there between 4:00 pm to 8:00pm. It’s never taken me more than 3-4 minutes in the line.

Agree. Even on weekends mid-day it’s not too bad there. The biggest problem is people needing to discuss their insurance or something while they’re picking up the medication. They need to streamline that.

No one thinks the individual pharmacists shouldn't get a lunch break. But most businesses are staffed to have multiple employees and staggered breaks and someone is working during business hrs.
