How long have you waited in line at the pharmacy?

I choose grocery stores over cvs now. Usually not as crowded.

Our CVS was horrible about a year ago. So bad that I switched everything to a small independent pharmacy. They weren’t much better. Nicer but just as slow. I submitted feedback on one of the surveys I got from CVS and actually got a call from them with questions.

Fast forward about a year and CVS is by far the best. Never more than one person in line and the pharmacists are great. I pick up over 10 prescriptions a month for my family so I’m there a lot.

Costco—you don’t have to be a member to use the pharmacy.

Easy stop using CVS pharmacy for everything and use your local grocery store pharmacy. Problem solved.

NOPE I tried that and it's a disaster. Use the grocery store pharmacy the main issue here is CVS.

Where do you live Mayberry?

I have waited 44 min in line at a cvs then was told to come back and wait again that was it for me. Never again with CVS. I now use the pharmacy at the grocery store and have one less errand to run because it's a 2 for 1 AND there is NEVER any line, longest has been 1 person in front of me that's it.

Far from it: Adams Morgan.

The one on Connecticut across from Woodley Park metro never has a long line IME. Same for the one on Columbia Rd near Safeway.

Harris teeter will send me a text when my rx is ready. If I get there at opening or after lunch break, voila, no line.

I guess it depends on the CVS. Ours doesn’t take that long, but I know of others that seem to take forever. Maybe look for a more out-of-the-way store?

Our CVS has recently started staffing 2 registers at the pharmacy and that has helped a lot. They are still awful with stock though. Especially children’s liquid antibiotics.

Then why bother at all with CVS just go to your local grocery store. Same meds, less hassle plus you can pick up dinner. If you have to drive out of the way for another cvs it's just time to find a new pharmacy at that point. There are countless CVS posts on this website and people just need to leave CVS and realize life is easier when they do. Enough already CVS is DONE.

You should switch to family-run The Medicine Chest pharmacy. And they deliver.

I live close to McLean CVS, I have found out that the trick is to go there during non rush hours. I go at 8:30 and there are one or two people in the line,I never go there between 4:00 pm to 8:00pm. It’s never taken me more than 3-4 minutes in the line.

I'll one up you OP! I recently waited in line at my local CVS to pick up a script. The staff saw me standing there, patiently waiting. There were 2 people ahead of me in line. I think I was in line for 10 mins maybe? Anyhow I was next in line, they looked me square in the face and without evening saying one word attempted to close the pharmacy gate, literally took the gate and dragged it across to close and lock it because why you ask? Because it was lunch time! I was stunned! Not so much because they close for lunch (which is also effed up because that means they're understaffed) rather I was stunned because I had been standing in line, waiting my turn and they knew it. Anyhow I acted quickly and wedged myself between the register and the gate. It was a literal stand-off to see who would back off first. They kept trying to close the gate and I kept standing in their way. Words were exchanged. They backed off, I got my script and left. Never again. NEVER.
