I mean, don't get me wrong, Audrey Hepburn was adorable. But I hardly think of her as a "universal ideal"

I didn’t say Audrey Hepburn was the universal ideal of beauty. I meant that she was universally liked. I have never met anyone who didn’t think she was charming, cute, “adorable” as you say.

But I for one think Jennifer Garner is unattractive and not remotely charming. I find her hokey, homey, masculine and annoying. I can see that my assessment is not unique.

There are stars that almost everyone likes, Jennifer Garner is not one of them.

I’m obviously not an outlier. I just started to post in support of other PPs who don’t like Jennifer Garner, either. In real life, I’ve never known anyone who thought she was beautiful. I think she appeals to a very specific type of person. That’s okay. She’s obviously doing fine, but she’s not very sophisticated looking and is very unappealing for those of us who go for that.

WTF did this woman ever do to you?

NP. She has done nothing to me. But, I don't understand all the great love for her. I find her the definition of basic. I don't find her even remotely beautiful, but think she's average looking. She's an average actress.

I don't understand all the fawning over her.

Is anyone fawning?
It seems to me that there are:
A. people who think she seems like a relatively nice, decent person, and perhaps more relatable than many Hollywood stars, enjoyed Alias or 13 Going on Thirty, and think she's cute, and
B. people who despise her.

I think she's alright. I don't fawn over any celebrities though. I don't think she's an outstanding actor or a great beauty, but I've enjoyed some of her work. She seems pretty normal and not like she's all up her own ass. I see nothing to hate. Plus, Victor Garber likes her, so how bad could she be?

I don't care much for Audrey Hepburn. I'm not into the gamine or elfin thing. I do enjoy sophisticated but I wouldn't put her in that category.
I also don't like Tom Hanks and have always thought Brad Pitt was hideous. Shrug.

We all have our opinions, and it's fine. Nothing to get worked up about.

Not sophisticated? Audrey Hepburn was a Baroness who studied ballet at a high end conservatory before joining the Dutch Resistance during WWII. She spoke SIX languages fluently (English, Dutch, German, French, Italian and Spanish). I cannot think of how one can possibly be more sophisticated or worldly.

Opinions are fine, but facts are facts.

Just curious, whose look do you find sophisticated? For me Audrey Hepburn drips with aristocracy and sophistication, so much so that I had a hard time seeing her in the role of Holly Golightly (that should have been Marilyn Monroe). So, I really don’t get it. Who do you think looks sophisticated? Please don’t say Jennifer Garner, lol. She looks like someone who grew up in a very ordinary middle class family in middle America.

Sorry, something going wrong with my quotes. These are women whose looks I find "sophisticated". ^

According to blinds circulating at the time, he resented her success and was a jerk to her. He never struck me as the nicest guy. It's possible none of us have the whole story.
