I don't think any reasonable person would look at DC and conclude that everything is peachy keen. However, repeatedly bleating into the void "HURR DURR YOU GET WHAT YOU VOTE FOR" ignores the fact that much of the problems with DC's criminal justice system stem from entities unaccountable to the voting public. Unless Janeese Lewis George has taken up a position at the USAO and Charles Allen is moonlighting for CSOSA, tilting against those windmills accomplishes precisely nothing.

The "get what you vote for" PP should seek her catharsis elsewhere.

Not the PP, but have they put any pressure on those entities? At all? I expect my public servants to advocate, hold hearings, make demands. Have they? ^

Well, when the USAO, Matthew Graves, a Biden appointee, declines to prosecute 67 percent of all arrests, of course there's going to be a huge spike in crime. The criminals have free reign in DC presently. They can do as they wish

Our crime numbers are ridiculous - from carjackings to murders. And it's the same damn people. The average murderer in DC has 11 felonies. I don't know. Maybe put these incredibly violent people in prison so people might live. Just a thought.

You must be new. No one here talks about black-on-black crime, it's not kosher. So the real homicide rate is only 8% of what it may seem, DC is a super safe city.

Crime doesn't matter. It is all about equity and not prosecuting and incarcerating perpetrators. Have to be equitable to the perpetrators.

I’ve posted on different threads, but my nephew was murdered last summer in DC. We will probably never know exactly what happened but he was robbed of his wallet and shot in the head. The police arrested someone for the murder. The murderer is in his mid 20s, so not a teenager, but he has a very long history of committing violent crime. And yet he had no long jail sentences and was out on the street, free to murder my nephew. For a couple hundred bucks at most. Murdered. A beautiful young man who wouldn’t hurt a fly got his life taken for maximum a couple hundred dollars, probably less. What’s going on in DC aren’t just numbers and statistics and news stories for people to click on. Our family will never be the same. Something needs to happen. I wouldn’t wish this suffering on anyone. Anyone who makes light of what’s happening in DC should have to spend some time with a victim’s family.
