People unfamiliar with Israel o not understand that border towns are not the whole country or its heart. |
Why would OP want their travel opinions? Stop making this about you and your concerns. |
Thanks. |
| I’d wait. |
My relatives in Tel Aviv are still going to their bomb shelters frequently. |
| I was going to say maybe - we lived there for a couple of years and lived through Protective Edge. But then I saw someone mention the air raid sirens/bomb shelter. This was nerve-wracking for us but we were prepared for it. And I was only caught outside while driving once. When you are out in the open and no shelter is available and a siren goes off you are supposed to lie flat on the ground on your stomach with your hands over your head. Otherwise you get in a shelter within 3 minutes and often less depending on how close you are to Gaza (or Lebanon). I wouldn't risk that on vacation. |
| We canceled 2024 already. |
| I’d be worried about kidnappings more than rockets, but it depends on how you plan your logistics. With some security with you, I think it would be ok (and less crowded, sadly). But then my line of work includes fragile states so my calculations are maybe a bit different. |
| We cancelled our summer 2024 trip |
The OP didn’t say Israeli politics, just Israel generally and I assume they put it that way so this would stick to being travel related instead of devolving into a discussion about the conflict. I would not go now unless I had to visit an elderly relative or something like that, not for touring and I sadly don’t know when it will be safe. I wonder if I’ll ever go again - in the past I always felt like there was a buildup to things getting bad so you could cancel if necessary. This surprise attack really changed my calculus. |
