The secret service stores high velocity weapons in their vehicles. Do you want those in the wrong hands? Are you even serious?

Let them steal those friggin scooters!

I also wonder if significant weapons in the car--automatic weapons to grenade launchers--that would would put agents at risk--justify the shooting.

The shooting is justified on its own. No need to invent wheels within wheels.

No. When the kid was shot and killed in the attempted carjacking in Judiciary Square, there were no riots.

Good point and a positive development if this city ever hopes to clean itself up.

Our preliminary statement on the weapon discharge following a break-in to a Secret Service vehicle. Two to Three possible suspects fled the scene in a vehicle and a regional bulletin has been issued to supporting units.
@DCPoliceDept are investigating the incident.

Who is Jeff???

You are a guest on his site, called DCUM.

Oh, so that's why they are carjacking. They just need a ride and couldn't use the Kids Ride Free Metro and bus. I thought they were thrill seeking joyriders like the police reported.

It’s likely when they catch these guys that they can charge them with a federal crime. Let’s hope the authorities make a harsh example of them to deter all the street punks who get away.

People would be celebrating. Maybe another kid getting shot will deter the criminal activity.

Please explain. Law enforcement (and especially elite law enforcement) does not typically shoot to prevent property crime. And what is a wheel within a wheel?

Like the agent was asleep in the car and when they tried to break in he woke up and discharged a weapon?

WTH is a “high velocity weapon”????

There are a bunch of Secret Service protectees in my immediate neighborhood and I can’t see the agents shooting like this.

The shooting occured "late Sunday night." According to one article I found, it was 11:58pm on Sunday night. It was also outside Naomi Biden's home. I have no idea where she lives in Georgetown, but I doubt it's on M Street or Wisconsin Ave. On a "work/school" night at midnight, on a neighborhood street in Georgetown, it probably isn't very crowded.

I don't know. I kind of made that up as I know nothing about the names of weapons. Big guns, bigger than hand guns. Rapid fire. To get the person they are protecting out of bad situations. Secret service have a lot going on in their vehicles. I wouldn't want it in the wrong hands whatsoever.
The new trend seems to be to boost government vehicles. Ambulances, police cars. What will we do when a jacked fire truck is careening fown the road? this needs to stop.

Most DC streets aren't crowded and they are poorly lit. If the city is fine with letting predatory people roam around, they could be found anywhere. They are also robbing people in crowded well lit places. Nowhere is safe with the current progressive policies.

The car thieves won’t think twice about firing a gun to take your car.

Exactly! As someone who was part of an attempted carjacking. They couldn’t care less about you or your family.
