No hyperbole Jeff. This is just the twitter link to the Official Secret Service Statement.

Our preliminary statement on the weapon discharge following a break-in to a Secret Service vehicle. Two to Three possible suspects fled the scene in a vehicle and a regional bulletin has been issued to supporting units.
@DCPoliceDept are investigating the incident.

No. When the kid was shot and killed in the attempted carjacking in Judiciary Square, there were no riots.

Here, it wasn't an attempted carjacking, it would just be "unauthorized use" - kids are stealing ambulances and fire trucks as well as police cars/trucks, seems like a secret service vehicle is an obvious next step.

It's embarrassing for the Secret Service to practically be lumped in with the "UDC police." At least the USSS vehicle wasn't stolen in the end.

Uhhh no they weren't. They were breaking into an unoccupied car. This is right in the press release. I think SS is pretty well-trained though, so I trust that they had a reason to fire the gun. YMMV.

What kind of crap is “unauthorized use”? It is car theft. You are killing people by minimizing this.

Kids are being killed by the failure to discipline. It is those who are not punishing that are killing the kids. Stop!!! Give them limits. These policies are killing black kids. I cant believe there are people who still think this is helpful, either in education or in crime enforcement. No is a very important word, and when not learned by just the stating it, consequences are imperative. Otherwise the kids you want to protect die along with those they kill.
