Huge meeting tomorrow and suddenly hit by something- what can I do?

Well we shouldn't have gone into work with something contagious in the past either. It's just common sense to not do that. But at a minimum, test for covid before going and exposing everyone! This will never end with such selfish people

Not if they smartly masked while traveling. Traveled extensively this year and still have yet to get covid. Masking works, and yes it is possible to mask for a 15 hour flight. Not really a big deal

Back in my day, when one of us got a cold we all got that cold, and we all liked it. We continued to work while miserable and made sure to spread that baby around to as many people as possible.

The onion on my belt prevented further spread.

Medicate yourself, mask up, and get on with it.

Np. This is what is wrong with our society. If sick she should cancel. No one wants to get your sickness.

Life happens. There must be someone who can take your place

The time for advice is over - OP's meeting started like 25 minutes ago.

OP, hope you come back and let us know what happened!

Maybe she threw up all over the visitors.

Umm, covid will never end. Just like the common cold and the flu.

If OP were in the hospital, I think everyone would understand. If she has the sniffles, she'll be expected to present.

I hope a good night's sleep does the trick, OP. If you do really need to be there, I think the advice to get some real Sudafed is best. Power through, you can sleep afterwards.

I travel long distances internationally for work. I also understand that meetings sometimes have to get canceled. I don't expect people with a fever to show up to meetings. In fact, I very much prefer it if they don't!

Me, too. Often these trips have multiple parts where I'm meeting with different groups over a couple weeks. I would not be happy to show up at my first stop and then get sick on my trip.

Is this the part where we point out that the plural of anecdote is not data

How are you OP? Did you make it to the meeting? How did it go?

I was an attendee of a big important meeting like this 2 weeks ago. One of the critical participants was sick and wore a mask during the entire meeting. They also did not shake hands, wore gloves and changed them throughout the meeting, brought in their own trashcan, sat as far away from everyone else as possible, sprayed Lysol all over the meeting table & chairs, and wiped them down with Lysol wipes when done.

AFAIK, we all survived.

The person sent out an email that morning that said I am sick. I am masking. I will do XYZ to minimize your exposure. If you are not comfortable with this and do not want me there or want to reschedule, I understand. But like OP, people had flown in from Switzerland, France, and Canada for the meeting, so it would be a big cost and hassle to reschedule.

In the last 2 hours I’ve suddenly been hit by a raspy feeling in my lungs/chest, slight sore throat, chills/hot feeling, and dizziness. No fever and my temp is actually reading lower than my normal. I don’t have a Covid test left in the house but also…cannot have Covid and blow this meeting up.

I have cold meds, ginger, smoothie supplies, and zinc. DH is taking over and I’m going to bed right now and can sleep 10 hours if I can fall asleep. Should I do anything else?

I’m so used to cancelling or going virtual for every little sniffle these past years but those days in my org are definitely over. Tell me how to function tomorrow!

yes you can have COVID. Shingles doesn't care, COVID doesn't care (that you have a meeting)

Doesn’t matter if it’s Covid. OP sleep, antihistamines, Advil, and some tea tomorrow before work. Then come home and sleep.

So they can most possibly infect every other person at the meeting with whatever they have?

I promise - every room you go into has sick people in it. Court, church, the movies, work, the airport, a conference, a restaurant, every single room.

If I'm pushed to have to do something big like this with the chance to crash immediately afterwards - take one of those 5 hour energy shots, big dose of advil, and then die afterwards.

You probably have covid and you're going to go expose everyone else who traveled overseas???? You're an animal. There is no reason you can't present virtually. WTF.
