Huge meeting tomorrow and suddenly hit by something- what can I do?

Anonymous
I have a huge meeting tomorrow with officials who are flying in from overseas. It has been scheduled for 6 months, cannot be rearranged, and no one can fill in for me. The meeting is a max of 4 hours from 11 am- 3 pm.

In the last 2 hours I’ve suddenly been hit by a raspy feeling in my lungs/chest, slight sore throat, chills/hot feeling, and dizziness. No fever and my temp is actually reading lower than my normal. I don’t have a Covid test left in the house but also…cannot have Covid and blow this meeting up.

I have cold meds, ginger, smoothie supplies, and zinc. DH is taking over and I’m going to bed right now and can sleep 10 hours if I can fall asleep. Should I do anything else?

I’m so used to cancelling or going virtual for every little sniffle these past years but those days in my org are definitely over. Tell me how to function tomorrow!

Go to bed now and get some sleep. Take an antihistamine in the morning and go to work.

Oh and do not take a COVID test. Why would you even think about that???

yes you can have COVID. Shingles doesn't care, COVID doesn't care (that you have a meeting)

Doesn’t matter if it’s Covid. OP sleep, antihistamines, Advil, and some tea tomorrow before work. Then come home and sleep.

Suck it up and go. Try to rest, and just do your best.

This. You can do it, OP.

Hope you feel better with rest and fluids. Usually vitamin B complex is helpful for me.

But if you’re sick (and what awful advice telling you not to test!) you would need to think about the risk of exposing the people you’re meeting, who traveled from overseas just for this.

You could consider being fully transparent about being evil, masking and/or sitting away from them.

Good luck.

And wear a mask tomorrow

Do not go in sick. Do it virtually. It would be horrible to make them sick too.

Disgusting. If you show up for the meeting all raspy and pale and then they catch Covid they aren't going to be happy. And of course you won't wear a mask because you won't want to look like one of those crazy people.

Get some real Sudafed in the morning. The kind you need to show an ID for. This always works for me in these scenarios.
