Why the shortage of turkeys and ham

Thanks for another DCUM snarky and unhelpful post. Did you even bother to read before entertaining your reflex to be nasty? Whole Foods, Giant and Balducci’s. Where have you purchased whole hams and turkeys all year and not just now that we are getting close to Thanksgiving? I’d love to know.

In any event, thank you to everyone with the helpful responses. Much appreciated.

I purchase them any time of year at Eastern Market. I just put in an order for them at the butcher counter.

Grocery bills were bad even last year. We hosted Thanksgiving with vegetarian and vegan dishes. It was an experimentation. Mashed potatoes and green beans casserole was a big hit with the grandparents and kids. My sister and SIL will be following this new tradition this year. We cooked some 9-10 dishes and hosted around 14 people for 30% of the otherwise usual Thanksgiving costs. Healthy, delicious and cheap. We have decided to do the same this year.
