Why the shortage of turkeys and ham

Anonymous
I’ve noticed for past year that I can’t find whole turkeys or hams in any regular grocery store. Not even frozen. The only hams for sale are those ham nuggets which are gross. Anyone know whats going on?

Are you just trying to stir the pot, OP? Because nothing you said is true.

Op here, wtf? Where are you buying whole turkeys and hams? Please enlighten me.

Come back if this is an issue at Thanksgiving.

I see both of those at the grocery stores every week. Where are you shopping?

I haven't looked for ham, but the Whole Foods near me has started stocking turkeys.

Are you in DC? What stores? I’ve looked in Giant (Bethesda and Cathedral Commons) Whole Foods ( Bethesda and Tenleytown) and Balducci’s ( Bethesda). Nada. Maybe as we get closer to Thanksgiving but none of these stores have had either all year.

Thanks for the classic DCUM unhelpful and rude response. Are you always this nasty?

According to the current Turkey Market News Report, the market is steady to weak, but the current demand is light to moderate. We should have more turkeys this year, due to a decline in bird flu. Overall stock seems to be up 5% over last year.

I've seen both at the WFs in Crystal City, P Street, and Foggy Bottom.

do stores really sell whole turkeys outside of the holiday months? Honest question, maybe that is why you don't see them. Same question for the big hams (not ham steaks or slices)

I'd love the excuse of oh no, no turkey. I'd roast a pork tenderloin and a beef tenderloin instead and be happier.
