OP here. I literally can't see how this is true. We saw next to no-one who wasn't country club style white people.

Do you know what common data set is? It’s far more reliable than your observations of prospective students.

In my experience a college never looks as diverse as it's common data set stats.

There are lots of white appearing kids walking around who have some drop of minority blood so they get counted in the stats.

You are truly an idiot.

I disagree. DD has many friends who are POC by heritage (a black or Hispanic parent) but look 100% white.

That wasn’t what the first poster was insinuating with “some drop of minority blood.”

My son is a POC but you’d never know by looking at him. He’s pretty white looking but he is half Hispanic.

I have a friend who is Hispanic that looks exactly like several of our white hs friend group (sorry, it was a parochial school without much diversity)

I am a wake alum and it didn’t dawn on me until later in life exactly how lacking in diversity that place was.

Well then he isn’t a POC, is he? It’s not a euphemism for having a rich cultural background. It literally refers to the color of one’s skins and racism that may be experienced because of it.

75% of families are paying roughly $90k a year. that's a pretty wealthy crowd. Who do you hang out with?

my point exactly, that is not “next level wealth”.

Um wearing nice clothes is “white washed”???

Our visit was just the opposite. Very multicultural. We are white and were in the minority by far.

All the WF students and recent grads I know are wealthy conservative whites. I only know one who comes from a moderate liberal family.

My two cents: people pay a lot of money to wrap their snowflakes in a preppy bubble at WF. I think that’s weird.

How is this possible? We've toured Davidson, Elon, UNC and Duke and all were diverse. Wake was so, so white. My DMV kids said it's the whitest place they're ever seen (granted they've never lived outside of the DMV). I'm not making this up. We spent like 8 hours on campus. I keep looking for diversity-any if it. I'm literally confused and dismayed because if it exists I want to go back and amend my kids' opinions.

I think I was only on maybe one tour that had non-whites in the double digits. Even the bigger state college tours, majority whites.

As a white person - especially if the kids are coming from very diverse schools - what is the big deal about going to majority white schools?

My son loves this scene so he was in heaven. My daughter was turned off. the wealth was crazy-so many designer purses and $300 sneakers on the moms on the tour and on girls walking around. My kids attend the Cathedral schools so we're no strangers to wealth or preppiness but this was next level. Am I missing something? We literally saw ONE south Asian girl the entire day and she was prepped out (or as my daughter said "white-washed"). Was everyone else hiding in their dorms?

And the problem is?

Hispanic means a person has parents or ancestors from a Spanish speaking country. A language doesn't correlate with appearance. The term Hispanic actually shouldn't have any meaning in this country or confer anything.

That’s more a commentary on your circle than Wake. My left leaning daughter is very happy there.

I’ll bite . I agree OPs comments about white washed are gross, but surely you understand that most people want some racial diversity ?
