Recent (2023) passport renewal experience---how long did it take you??

March submitted first time adult passport--took 12 weeks. July two adult renewals by mail--one took 13 weeks, one took 11 weeks. Just submitted newly turned 16 year old Monday this week (expedited).

Based on my husband's experience this past winter (expedited everything, 3+ month wait), I submitted my renewal for this year's spring trip on 09/13 via priority mail and expedited everything. I was absolutely SHOCKED to have it arrive 09/28. I almost fell out of my chair with the two week turnaround. Unbelievable especially considering the fiasco from this past winter/spring.

For the kids passports recently, it was exactly 5 weeks from the appointment to having the new passports on hand. End of August to early October. We did expedite.

We submitted DS's on August 5 at the post office and received it back September 29. I was excited to get it back before the government was going to shut down, though we're not traveling til December so it likely wouldn't have made a difference.

That was not expedited. Almost exactly 8 weeks. The State Department is processing things quicker and just lowered their turnaround time estimates.

OP here.
Submitted at post office on 9/5, received 2 of 3 back on 10/25. Non-expedited.
7 weeks exactly.

The third (twin sibling to one of the one's received) is still processing.

Submitted the first week of July. Did not expedite. Got kids back in just under 6 weeks. Got mine back in just under 8 weeks. In-laws and parents both submitted theirs (regular not expedited) during the summer (August and September) and got them back in less than 8 weeks. Except for the kids, because they have to be classified me as new passports, everybody else’s were renewals.

Processing time on the website are 8 to 11 weeks routine and 5 to 7 weeks expedited. But I wouldn't be surprised if a government shutdown on Nov 17 makes it longer.

My DC just took four weeks

Aren't passport renewals self-funded by fees?

The process does not run itself.

It is not a store where you can get paid with the money in the cash register.

You shave no idea how government works.
