Are Asian students at a disadvantage?

He has low muscle tone and average build, and that makes it more harder for him to do well in any sports. I wish he spends more time and effort into studies, but he does not listen to me.

My Asian girl does really poor in school and she has learning disabilities. I don't even know about her future. No matter how hard I push her to study, she gets passing score. I just hope that she can graduate & attend community college. She is into dance and singing, but there is no award/prize.

Change the last name to something that is not Asian sounding and leave the race box unchecked. Also, do not put any information on the application, essays etc. that can identify the applicant as Asian. It would be better if the last name sounded like a black person's last name.

What? Use a fake name when you apply to college? What could possibly go wrong with that plan 😳

Don’t listen to this racist kook!

No, they are admitted at a rate of 3 to 4 times their prevalence in the US population. I believe the statistical term is over-indexed.

Yes it is a disadvantage. But not much you can do about who you are.

Can you give an example of a black person's last name?

There is something we can do - vote out dems at all levels as they systematically discriminate Asians.

Let's not do this.

Yep. They are too successful. Not fair, but now the American way.

What if you are not Asian but your last name is Lee? Are you screwed?

Lee is well known last name for 1st for Korean & 2nd for Chinese (from specific region in China). I have heard that some non-Asian have Lee as last name, but I am not knowledgable enough to know where that come from.

Why would all this talk of whose name sounds like what matter to college admissions officers? Anyone who thinks ANY decisions are being made using this kind of thinking is totally ignorant of the process and the people who implement it.

Schools can no longer consider race.

Look at top 20 LACs. Most of them view Asians as diversity. Go look at their common data set and look at % of Asians. Focus on those with a low % which most of them have. Wish I had realized this when my dc was applying. When all the kids look so much the same demographics matter. LACs also need more boys.

If you lie on the application, the school will throw your DC out permanently. Why on earth would you suggest this?

There is no lying. Applicant can legally changed the last name anytime so where is the lying? Lying is done by the schools since they say they will comply with the law (you cannot do something indirectly you could not do directly) but they are already gearing up to circumvent the law of the land.
