Secure DC Plan by Councilmember Brooke Pinto

“DC Council hearing on new police chief Smith today. In 1st round of questions to chief - none from Chairman Mendelson; at-large Robert White, Anita Bonds or Kenyan McDuffie; W1 Nadeau; W4 Lewis George; W7 Vince Gray; Ward 8 Trayon White. No questions?”

DC Council are something else. Meanwhile ih the dystopian reality they created for DC citizens, we’ve hit the record 200+ murders and overtaken Baltimore.

Goulet tweets seem pretty reasonable and justified to me, apropos 200+ murders and 5 people just shot:

It's absolute chaos on our streets! @charlesallen, @ChmnMendelson & @BrianneKNadeau... Now would be an appropriate time for you to resign. Deep down, you know your political cowardice caused this tragedy & carnage, when you ignored public safety experts to placate loud activists!

Pinto's emergency legislation passed in June, will be extended until spring, so, in effect, while the Council works on other legislation.

It’s also detailed on her website.

Can anyone please share the most effective parts of the plan?

Particularly love it that to force an acronym they essentially say they will help (further) enforce violence. It’s been done by the criminals and teens gone wild already, thanks, Pinto. Or maybe that is the plan.

Introducing the Addressing Crime through Targeted Interventions and Violence Enforcement (ACTIVE) Act of 2023

Here is what it does:

“the plan “builds on the substantial budget investments passed by the Committee and the successful passage of [her] emergency legislation to address crime earlier this year,” she said. And it covers “every aspect of our legal justice system by increasing accountability for violent crime and gun offenses, giving our public safety agencies the tools needed to address hiring and retention challenges, and [enhance] infrastructure to make our schools, recreational spaces, and commercial and transit corridors safer.”

That’s clear, isn’t it?

Not at all. Where do you see anything specific that will be done?

Looking at it now. A lot of it appears to be definite improvements over what we have now... but does it go far enough?

Can you please mention 2 or 3 points that would be the most effective?
