Secure DC Plan by Councilmember Brooke Pinto

Anonymous
Councilmember Pinto is the head of the Judicial and Safety Committee of DC City Council. Based on this proposed new plan, there is real concern on the Council about safety issues for DC residents. Thankfully, it appears we have their attention as to the urgency of this matter.

How can we rally support across the Council to enact this Plan?

Well, what's the plan?

Email and call your CM, + Mendo + at large members is the traditional means of rallying support.

I reached out to Frumin's office to ask if he supports it but have gotten no response. He was so waffly in June that I am concerned.

OP here and that’s exactly what my DH said. We need 100% commitment from Frumin, not his often wishy washy stance. I will contact his office as well. Also important to call him out in a public way to ensure his support

I didn’t get a response either. Does he only engage with constituents who agree with him?

He’s a big disappointment in this regard as compared to Mary Cheh. Her constituent response was always prompt and helpful

What's in the plan? What are the stated goals? How do they plan to accomplish them? What's Pinto's plan to get participation from the Mayor and prosecutors (I am assuming that increased prosecution of crime is part of the plan).

Same, I reached out to Frumin a few months ago asking for his support of a public safety bill and got no response. Which is weird, because he's being paid a salary to do this as a full-time job, and he has an entire staff working for him. Meanwhile, my ANC rep who gets no salary, has no staff, and is doing this in his free-time responded to me within hours (and not just brushing me off, he actually spent time to address all my concerns in his response).

It’s a brilliant plan. NOT

Particularly love it that to force an acronym they essentially say they will help (further) enforce violence. It’s been done by the criminals and teens gone wild already, thanks, Pinto. Or maybe that is the plan.

Introducing the Addressing Crime through Targeted Interventions and Violence Enforcement (ACTIVE) Act of 2023

Let’s vote all these cretins out

You gave Frumin a Michigan political “pick me” a job.

Suffer the consequences.

He won on his second or third council run. He also ran for congress in Michigan and lost.

Well so far, I’m not impressed. Big step down from Mary Cheh, who was well respected
