Oh wait, it’s almost like Miyares wants to ban TikTok because it’s primarily used by young people and content creators on the platform tend to skew left…

It's a vast right-wing conspiracy?

Banning it for government devices seems to be nonpartisan.

Banning it for the masses is ironically something China would do.

The government bans all sorts of things to the masses. I guess we live in China.

What speech platforms are banned for the masses in America?

And, despite the best efforts of anti-American Republicans like Miyares, we’re not China yet. But we could be if we’re not careful.

Tiktok, being a private company, is not 1A protected. The government shutdown backpage. Where were you then? People needed that website to make a living.

Backpage was a criminal operation convicted of trafficking. How is that relevant to this discussion?

Are we going to also ban SHEIN and Temu? I mean, I could get on board with that…

1st amendment does not apply to CCP spy efforts, duh.

Ban Twitter, they're about to try to grab everyone's biometric data and sell it to anyone who pays them.

Transactions between consenting adults is not a crime. Backpage is relevant because it was an online classifieds. People were using that site to make a living. The initial argument was that we can't shutdown tiktok because some depend on tiktok for income. Backpage provided the same economic services. And yet was somehow different in your eyes.

Sorry, I can get on board with VA banning Tik Tok. I'm tired of the uphill battle of keeping my teens off the platform when everyone else is on it. Social media is a constant fight and families could use some backup from government regulation in this area.

+1

I’m not worried about China. They are just one of MANY orgs/businesses trying to mine for personal data. I’m more worried about google or Amazon.

TikTok is full of garage like Andrew Tate. Make it go away.
