What can be done to hold the parents/guardians accountable in this matter?

Anonymous wrote:Not only is MCPS mishandling this situation horribly wrong (again), but the messaging continues to be about "the physical altercation". In the video that went around alone, there were actually TWO different assaults occurring. However, there were multiple others that occurred...including at least one where the child had worse injuries than the one in the viral video.

Proves again that MCPS has a narrative that they are going to push. Sadly, I'm confident Monifa would not acknowledge anything had this video not gone public.

This school system needs new leadership quickly!

They were fights not assaults.

So far nothing has been done. They sent out a note to BCC parents last night stating that it’s been taken care of and whatever happened in terms of punishment will remain some big secret.

Oh and they included a link to a restorative justice policy web page.

How do you know this?

This has not been released by the school. I highly doubt it’s true. Source?

What does “with grounds for expulsion mean?” Either they’re suspended or expelled, what is this an in-between status?

It’s fake news so it’s bound to not make sense.

But if it's the truth...

Please read your copy of the Student Code of Conduct manual. Students have rights. They can't automatically be expelled. They/Parents have the right to appeal any decision. They will receive 10 days of suspension with recommendation for expulsion. It'll be a long drawn out process. They still have the right to a free education. While they may not be roaming the halls, they can be sent to Blair G. Ewing (alternative school). The whole mob won't be caught, but the few who've been issues for the past 2-3yrs will be dealt with.

Privacy laws will prevent the school from "announcing" such information. That's not common practice to reveal what the punishments will be, if any.

Yes you will be fine. They won't be letting in unaccompanied high school aged kids who can't show ID. That's all.

They should make parents come and supervise their kids.

Students from schools other than the teams playing must be accompanied by an adult

Remember folks, this fight, brawl, assault, "throwing of hands" occurred OFF CAMPUS. Therefore, the school's role is limited.
