Middle school breakfast

I make French toast once a week. That's good for a few days -- put in refrigerator and reheat in the mornings. I use whole wheat bread and extra eggs so it has some protein.

DS needs to eat a big breakfast because he tends to rush through lunch and barely eat. I make sure he gets protein and carbs. He's not a big fruit eater, although loves veggies. Usually he will have scrambled eggs or sausages, whole grain cereal and whole milk, and then a cinnamon roll or something similar. Luckily he doesn't start too early and we live about 3 minutes from school.

My middle schoolers like smashed avacado on toast with a fried egg, steel cut oatmeal with various mix in, sometimes dinner leftovers, cheese omelettes, Eng muffin breakfast sandwiches or breakfast burritos. To maximize their sleep, I prepare their breakfast so it is ready when they come down for school. They sit and eat, I join them and have coffee and it is a a nice calm town before they head out to school.

That REALLY depends. DD's school bus is scheduled to pick up at 6:15, which means she has to be at the stop by 6:05. She has to be up by 5:15 at the latest, to make it to the stop on time. She would do better with an extra 10 minutes of sleep, than an elaborate breakfast at 5:45.

My kid isn't really hungry in the early morning. At most she will eat some dry cereal (doesn't like milk) or a half a bagel with cream cheese.

My kids never wanted a heavy breakfast at 6:15. Just a piece of toast, cereal, banana, or yogurt.

They eat a bigger lunch (late morning), then a snack after school.

That is insane! Off topic, but would driving them allow significantly more time in morning?

I can’t imagine that schedule! Why is it so early?

I have no idea. Last year was bad enough at 6:30. With this one, I think they'll be in school by 6:45 or 6:50, for a 7:30 start. My guess is that they need to run more routes, and that bus has to double back.

PP, driving her would allow her to get up at a more normal-ish 6:00 AM, and leave home by 6:50 or so. Honestly, we can leave by 7:10 and make it there on time, but she wants to have extra time in the morning to catch up with her friends. Last year, we did it all 4th quarter. This year, I think I'll just drive her from the beginning.

Yeah, but for the sake of your DC's breath not stinking, you should feed them something so they avoid having a dry mouth after brushing their teeth and eating nothing (which causes bad breath).

I don't have a school aged kids just yet, but waffles, cereal, oatmeal, and peanut butter & jelly sandwiches are what I ate for breakfast in middle and high school. Super quick and easy to make all of those. If you have extra time, you can't go wrong with an egg and turkey bacon sandwich.

McGriddles are disgusting. Venti frappichinos are disgusting. Yet lots of people consume them.

I’d never slam anyone that is cooking and eating real foods at home

No it's not.
I'm DP and I do something similar. It's a deconstructed stir fry. If I have time, I'll sautée some onions and veggies and add them to the mix.
Not everything has to be the standard American breakfast. It's probably better for you too.

What you are saying says everything about you and nothing about the PP
