Yup- by far the meanest CBP officers I have ever dealt with were at the Dublin pre-clearance facility. |
Way to objectify yourself. |
Yeah, I am not pretty and I often get my way just by being a pleasant and persuasive person. |
I arrived in Dulles last week and the app kept giving an error message that the forms couldn’t be submitted. I wouldn’t count on the app. |
NP. We were recently returning from our young DC's first international trip. DH and I have global entry, DC does not. DH's understanding was that we could all go in the global entry line- he was wrong, but it was an innocent mistake, and we got totally reamed by the officer when we approached the desk. Instead of just telling us to go in the other line, he threatened to revoke our enrollment. So yeah, don't do it, you never know if you'll get someone on a bad day/power trip. |
Thanks, this is what I was afraid of. A little power and authority can go to the head. We’ve signed up for GE and hope to have conditional approval before re-entry. It’s so silly a properly documented small child traveling with properly documented parents who have GE can’t get their passport stamped at the desk. It’s not like they’re going to answer the entry questions any differently nor are they individually responsible for any large amounts of currency in their luggage, or whatever it is they actually care about at these check points. Did you at least get to go to the front of the regular line!? |
| I would submit the application for them right now and pray they get conditional approval before we get back. It is possible - everyone in my family's conditional approvals came back faster than expected and once you have that you can get in line and do the interview upon arrival. Good luck! |
|
Yes, submit your DC's application now. My kids were approved within days.
I just flew back from Europe to Dulles and I saw that they were doing "approval upon entry" even though it was 9 PM! The lines were insane because it was the day DC shut down for the tornado. After they processed those 2 people, they said they were not doing any more (but nobody else was in that the conditional entry line). Good luck. |

We were in this position last week at Dulles (both adults have ge). No, do not try with your minor children who do not have ge. No, you do not get to go to the front of the line even if you have one sleeping child and can’t get your stroller because the gate check sent it to baggage claim and one child who is having the most epic meltdown ever.
I must say, Europe is amazing with their separate family lines. Don’t understand why US isn’t on board with that. |
I had the same experience at Newark a week ago. But MPC has worked well for us at IAD and JFK. |
MPC works great at JFK. Was using for years prior to getting GE. Always breezed right through. |
| I want to apply for my elementary age kids. There is no way to add applications under my login. I apparently have to create a separate login for each of the kids. A 5-year-old does not have an email address! Have you figured out a way around? |
If you use Gmail, just use your current email address, but add a period somewhere in there. Like this: janesmith@gmail.com jane.smith@gmail.com j.anesmith@gmail.com Gmail parses those all as the same email account. Any email sent to those will all go through to the same email account. But you can put those in to the CBP TTP site and it will see them as separate email addresses. You can use the same phone number across multiple accounts. |
"Anyone with an existing Gmail address can use this technique. Say your email address is jake2656@gmail.com and your kids are Amy, Todd and Sara. You would use the following Gmail addresses when setting up their loyalty accounts: jake2656+amy@gmail.com jake2656+todd@gmail.com jake2656+sara@gmail.com Whenever someone sends an email to any of the above addresses, it will appear in the jake2656@gmail.com inbox. This is awesome because you don't have to even bother setting up or registering any new email accounts. You're just sharing your inbox with your kids. This trick allows you a super easy way to get young ones signed up for loyalty programs with the added benefit of easy management on your part." |
Thank you to the last two posters. I had no idea! |
