Can I wear this dress to a black tie optional wedding?

It’s a no for me. Cute yet sort of looks like quilting cotton. Not for a black tie optional event.

Your job at the wedding is not to show up the bride.
This dress yells “Look at me!”
Otherwise, it’s a cool dress.

You'll be fine. I'd wear it with a super flashy vintage costume jewelry gold/diamond necklace i have, to elevate the fabric a bit.

+1. I feel like this dress looks better in person and that the model is not doing it justice.

Not at all - it’s cotton. Also it’s red and has cut outs and super casual knots. It’s edgy hot casual and will look way out of place at a black tie optional wedding which is going to dressier over more casual.

Thanks all I think I’ll wear this to the rehearsal dinner and find something else for the wedding. Yellow is not my color but thanks pp!

I also got this farm rio on sale for like $80 and probably not willing to spend quite that much!

LOL to people saying I’m looking to get laid, I’m a mom of three under 7 who will be attending with my husband hahahaha, I am not looking to bed any groomsmen

Both this dress and the one in the OP are too edgy for a wedding. Does this really need to be explained to people? Just because bare mid drifts are trending, does not make them appropriate for a wedding. The attention should be on the couple getting married. Always. But the hottie in the red dress.

Cut out dresses are extremely in style right now, even in formal wear. Chill

What? No, of course not. It's way, way too casual.

If this black tie optional, what do people like OP wear at casual weddings?!? Torn linen shifts?

Come on, OP. Don't be rude.

Well, it depends on the wedding. Maybe to a beach wedding. Black tie optional plus an evening wedding ceremony in a church would make this dress a no go. I really like the yellow dress — although not for this event.

Are you posting from a senior citizen nunnery? The dress is edgy and too casual but not very sexy or revealing.

There's "edgy," and there's "try hard." This is the latter.

DP. No. By the time the DCUM message board is pushing something as "extremely in style now," it's already past its due date. not edgy. Just dated and trend-whorish.

PS: I mean, it's been hailed as the it things for more than two years. https://www.collegefashion.net/trends/cut-out-fashion-trend/ That's not new anymore. It's old and stale.

OP here, for the record I never thought it was edgy! That is in fact why I assumed cut outs were fine at a wedding, they are a very common option in the offerings on websites right now!
