So pack. There is zero need to get take out at school. |
As stated in the OP... this is happening at high FARMs schools as well. Poor people are terrible with money too |
Admittedly I ordered UberEats when my kid forgot her lunch, but we are also at a small private that does not have a cafeteria. Sure, I suppose she could have waited to eat until she got home, but then everyone has to deal with a hangry kid and no one wants that. I felt like this was a special circumstance; I wouldn't do it just for kicks. |
| I didn't get the sense that it was parents sending this, but kids ordering it themselves from school. |
But it is a problem in elementary and middle schools as well; definitely plenty of parents doing it. But I don’t doubt older kids do this too, just another reason their phone shouldn’t be allowed in school at all |
This made me laugh (and I’m a teacher)! I mean…honestly!!! You have to give them credit for solving their caffeine deficit 🤣 |
I believe it. When I pick my son up at lunchtime for appointments, I see lots of kids eating chipotle or drinking Starbucks outside. It’s a closed campus for lunch so my guess is the food is being delivered. |
| Yeah, DD’s MS had to shut it down as well. They essentially accept no deliveries for kids - missing homework, instruments, lunch, etc. I believe meds are the only exception. |
| I taught first grade in dc for many years. Like five years ago I had first grade parents ordering uber eats. The food would always come late and the kid would be sad watching everyone else eat. Then we sent the class to PE and the kid ate when the food finally came (while the class was in PE) |
| Oh, FFS. |
Odd that the other kids wouldn't share food with your kid. That's what we always did at my small private. |
Yes, they are doing it at our HS and getting the food in the building. They are not supposed to do so and when, last year, I pointed out the door number where there were a number of Door Dashers waiting for students to let them in, the admin just shrugged. (Looking at you Fairfax HS). I'm not sure it is the parents, but the students making the orders. |
But the parents are paying the bill for the credit card the app is linked to. They are complicit. |
I find it hard to believe the school couldn’t cobble together some stuff for her to eat: a PB&J, granola bar, graham crackers, apples, bananas, a lunchable. Surely they keep some food/snacks around for this purpose. |
| DS is only going into 5th grade and as far as I know it hasn't been an issue. However our high school is an open campus for lunch, makes me wonder if kids there do it. |
